Thanks to Mary and Don Rand of Groesbeck, the gentleman in the photo has been identified as Dr. Thomas Jefferson Geren who practiced dentistry in Groesbeck. The photo was taken in his office in the Brown Building, which is now home to the Rand Oil Company.
This photo is on a postcard that was mailed from Tehuacana in July 1909 to Miss Irvie Morgan at St. Paul Sanitarium in Dallas. The message on the postcard reads, “This is Jim’s auto. I am on the seat with him–Nona and Marian on the back seat.” Irvie Morgan was born in Kentucky in 1854. Census records indicate that she was living in Tehuacana in 1880, 1910, and 1930. According to her death certificate, she died at Tehuacana in 1945. Can anyone identify the house or the people mentioned?
This family may have lived in the Thornton area since the photo belonged to Virginia Bedford, longtime superintendent of the Thornton School District.
This photo of Groesbeck businessmen and leaders was taken next to the Cynthia Ann Hotel sometime during the 1930s. Some of the men have been identified, but the museum needs help with the others.
